Ben and Vicki on Arranged (video)

I was not familiar with this reality show, "Arranged". Basically they bring on 3 couples for whom they have arranged a marriage and they follow the couple through the wedding preparations, the wedding, and for a bit after. In this new season of the show, season 2, one of the arranged couples is an orthodox couple - Ben and Vicki.

These are the clips I have found online so far from Ben and Vicki's appearances. I like what they do and how they appear, except for one point - when Ben comes down hard on Vicki for her being "immodest" in regards to being too involved in social media. It seems hypocritical to be so concerned about social media as being a bad lifestyle and immodest while going through an arranged marriage in public on television as part of a reality tv show. Despite that I still like them.

  1. I watched all the clips last week and I don't see what is "arranged" about this marriage. They are typical modern orthodox people who were setup by friends, then dated, then got engaged, and then got married.

BTW, anyone know where that wedding is taking place? (it's a science center of some sort, not the California Science Center in LA)

    1. I think the wedding was in Seattle. If so, that might be the Flight Museum.

    1. Seems goofy since he can divorce her or her him if they go ten years without a baby. Especially when only he seemed on board with waiting. Was this just a stunt to show they don't have to get pregnant right away? I think it would be cool if they moved to Israel and that was followed in season 2. They were from Seattle but wanted more religiously comfortable surroundings so she wanted to live in NY. Did they really intend for him to sleep on the floor for 12 or more days a month?

    2. Nobody does that. I mean nobody. We have two beds. And many people put the beds together as one and separate them when they are Niddah. Pregnancy, nursing, and extended birth control make huge breaks in niddah periods so it’s not really two weeks on two weeks off for most of our marriages. Keep in mind we habe large families so pregnancy and nursing happens a lot.

  3. As a non Jewish person it certainly seems very "arranged" vs the average Christian couple in America. It's so fascinating to learn about and I see why it all appeals to Vicki with her parent's divorce. Tonight's episode was great and I'm so intrigued I had to come see if there were any sites speculating what will happen next week.

The subject of kids, it was mentioned (not in the meeting with the Rabbi) that they would wait a year and then meet with the Rabbi again.
