the vacation tiyul of the Haredi families (video)

wityh bein hazmanim of the yeshivos now having come to an end, this report is very interesting. A reporter, Yigal Mosko, went out to take a look at how the Haredi community, the families and the yeshiva boys, spend their vacation.

1. the family he talks with about the divider they put up to avoid looking at immodest women, and with their own women doing all the work while they sit around, is particularly endearing. And, I dare say, not typical. I spent time up north, and have done so many times, and I am pretty sure that most Haredi families are not putting up such dividers. Still, they are endearing.

2. The family that canceled their kayaking and other parts of the tiyul, due to immodest women.. I am not sure what they were thinking going there, expecting it to be otherwise, but good for them. I am sure there are others like them that cancel activities on the fly due to immodesty, but many do not. I saw plenty of Haredi families enjoying the rivers and activities despite the immodesty. I would have liked to also see Mosko ask such a family, one that went on with the activity despite the immodesty present, why and how they do what they do..

3. cute who knows one countdown by the rescue team, but sad overall that this is still such an issue of Haredi yeshiva boys going out so unprepared, despite the warnings and knowledge of what happens all too often...

Where would the boys hear/see the warnings and obtain the knowledge of what happens? Remember, in their world, ignorance is a virtue.

  2. it has been written about many times in the haredi newspapers. also, every time a terrible tragedy happens, there is a lot of talk about it in the haredi community.

    1. The concept of charedi newspapers isn't kosher, either. Just tolerated. And a mouthpiecefor their (mostly internal) politics.

Besides, the incident last year could easily have been solved by carrying a cell phone, preferably with GPS (i.e., smartphone.) This is safety 1.0, but charedim refuse to acknowledge.
