a sign of being sheltered

There has been a bit of an uproar after the funeral of Eyal, Gilad and Naftali, over something only peripherally connected.

When it was time to say kaddish, at the Frankel funeral, Mrs. Rachel Frankel, and their son, joined Mr. Frankel and they all said kaddish aloud, together.

There has been an unexpected ruckus raised over this - a woman saying kaddish! Feminism? something new? is she Reform? etc.

The fact that some people have never seen such a thing before, something that is common enough at funerals, and that this could shock them, just shows you how sheltered some people actually are.

The fact that someone is surprised, that something practised by the Orthodox only in America is not common in the rest of the world, just shows you how sheltered most Americans actually are.

  2. The fact that someone who lives in Beit Shemesh and thinks (wrongly as it turns out) that he knows exactly how all dati jews in Israel act, just shows how sheltered most jews from Beit Shemesh are.
