The Western world does *not* claim to be "officially atheist" - it claims to be non-sectarian, which is quite different. If America was officially atheist, we wouldn't have "In God We Trust" on the money and chiseled into the marble in the Capitol chambers.
As officially atheist as the Western World claims to be, they nonetheless seem to give the Biblical stuff a significant possibility in their reality.
